When Ham Jia Yun was first asked to play in a varsity inter-hall handball game in 2009, she had no idea what the sport was about and had to be coached by her teammates during the game.
She told The Straits Times: “I had only heard about it in junior college but I had never played it before, so it was a bit of a shock to me. I didn’t know how to shoot or the appropriate footwork.
